My father, Hugh West, served with Company B, 4th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during WWII (1942-1945) in Alaska, including the Aleutian Islands (Ft. Richardson, Adak, Amchitka, Attu) starting on 10 February, 1942. He was one of 39 volunteers to participate in "Operation Crowbar" which was the initial landing on Amchitka Island on Jan 12, 1943. He also served in combat with Company B on Attu Island from May 19 - June 27, 1943. He was promoted to SGT in early 1944 and served with the Fourth at the 1st Infantry Training Company School Troops, Infantry School, Ft. Benning GA in 1944-45.

So many have given their life in order for us to continue to be free. I saw the faces, felt the families pain as well as my own when I saw the minature Vietnam Wall in Melbourne, Florida. Such heaviness for the heart to bear, such a lost that can never be repaid to those who gave their all. Blessed are we to have those heroes who still walk amongest us. My brother PFC Juilus Frazier Jones gave his life and he is greatly missed. Love to all our Vietnam Heroes.

In memory of LTJG DAVID P. NEISLAR, USN - died 20 Feb 1969 aboard USS RANGER (CVA 61) when his F4 Phamtom fighter plane's nose wheel collapsed in take off.  I was standing in the cat walk when his plane was launched, and lost air speed, slipping over the ship's bow.  The plane and pilot were lost at sea, the RIO ejected, chute opened, and the ship's recovery helo saved him.

The incident has never left my thoughts and prayers.  When we speak of such courage as our naval aviators have flying into the dark night, their reply is: "NO CHOICE, that's what we do!"
